This course measures the concepts and principles related to the application of the nursing roles when applying the nursing process to care for patients across the life span who are experiencing behavioral, regulatory, and metabolic health differences. Behavioral responses includes patients with a variety of psychiatric disorders including cognitive impairments. Regulatory mechanisms includes patients with adrenal, thyroid and parathyroid, pituitary, and kidney disorders. Metabolic disorders includes patients iwth liver, gall bladder, and pancreatic disorders. Critical thinking skills and caring behaviors needed to provide and manage care for these patients are stressed. Evidence-based nursing care and standards for nursing practice, as well as ethical, legal, and regulatory concerns specific to these patients are addressed.
